It’s a Drink. A Snack. A Bowl. It’s Genuine Coconut.

Once you’ve sliced and cracked open your Genuine Coconut, what’s your gameplan with the meat? You have that soft, nutty taste with versatility from desserts to even savory dishes. Here, we’ll give you 3 ideas, all starring the multipurpose coconut.

Know your Coconut

One coconut tree can blossom around 10 times a year, sometimes more! Each time, 60 large orbs in a green color are produced and inside them – the coconut. They contain the liquid that hydrates your body as well as the delicious meat that you can shave grate, chop, or just break apart to eat right away.

Coconut Milk…not the kind you may think

I’m sure you’ve played with the idea, but never got around to it! If you are looking to whip up some dishes inspired by south Asian cuisine, then you’ll want to have your coconut milk handy. Blending both the pureed coconut meat and the water, the milk can be used in countless dishes. Some dishes you may already know if you are an avid thai food lover as the milk is used as a base for some of those mouth watering curries. Due to its versatility, the milk will end up in so many more dishes, some you didn’t even think needed it. Apart from the savory dishes like curries or soups, you can add it to your smoothies or add that extra flavor to your morning coffee.

Coconut milk is a great alternative for those who prefer to stay away from dairy but still want that creamy taste. Coconut milk is a great alternative for those who prefer to stay away from dairy but still want that creamy taste.

Spa day…on us

The coconut meat in pulp form is an industry beauty secret, but now in the palm of your hands…literally. The oils in the coconut have soothing properties and are best known for nurturing the skin. The fine and grainy texture of the pulp allows it to be made into a spa quality face scrub.

1/4 cup of fresh coconut pulp (make sure it is well-pressed and contains very little water)

1 Tbsp honey (water binding and mildly anti-bacterial properties)

1-2 Tbsp of aloe vera gel

  1. Mix all ingredients well, or blend them in your kitchen blender.
  2. Then simply apply the mixture as a facial mask, and let it soften and nurture your skin for 10 minutes.
  3. When done use the still-moist paste on your face as a scrub while removing it.
  4. Hold your face over the sink, and slowly rub your face in circular movements. This will remove dead skin cells and the paste.
  5. Rinse your face afterwards with tepid water.

Your skin will glow and thank you after this homemade spa quality treatment. If you have paste left over, you can keep it in the fridge for 2-3 days and repeat the treatment.
